International recognition for a wine estate combining heritage, innovation and experiential wine tourism.

Among the 11 global winners, Domaine du Mont d'Or, representing the Lausanne region (Switzerland), stood out by winning the Global Best Of Wine Tourism Award 2026, recognising its pioneering commitment to wine tourism innovation and the promotion of Swiss wine heritage.

Domaine du Mont d'Or: between heroic tradition and playful innovation

Nestled on the southern slopes of Montorge hill, at the western entrance to Sion, Domaine du Mont d'Or is one of Switzerland's most iconic vineyards. It was founded in 1848, and has 24 hectares of spectacular terraces, supported by more than 220 dry stone walls, reflecting expertise passed down through generations and legendary viticulture.

The estate, which is renowned for its Johannisberg and noble grape varieties, harmoniously blends respect for the terroir, traditional craftsmanship, and a forward-looking spirit. Today, this philosophy comes to life through a distinctive and immersive experience –  The Flash Tag Game – an innovative concept that fuses technology, heritage, and the thrill of wine tourism. The Flash Tag Game invites visitors to explore the very heart of the estate through an interactive journey based around discovery, puzzles, and wine tasting.

After being given a laser camera, participants set off to discover hidden points of interest within the protected Montorge site, solving puzzles along the way to unlock the secret of Mont d’Or’s Johannisberg and uncover the estate’s very first historic medal, awarded in Bern in 1857.

This innovative approach, at the crossroads of play and tradition, embodies the wine tourism of the future — experiential, sustainable, and deeply connected to its surroundings.
