Put yourself in the heart of Switzerland's vineyards with the free online course, Swiss Wine Campus. This comprehensive course introduces you to Switzerland's six wine-producing regions: Valais, Vaud, German-speaking Switzerland, Geneva, Ticino and Three Lakes.

You'll discover the characteristics of local grape varieties, their blends and the best ways to serve wines made from them, and how to pair them with local cuisine. You'll also explore the history of Swiss viticulture and the different stages of winemaking, from vine to glass.

The online course offers four levels of training:

  • Beginner

  • Specialist

This last level is divided into specialisations:

  • Chasselas

  • Organic wines

  • Vaud wines

You can take the courses at your own pace and when you want. At the end of each level, you will receive a certificate that you can download and print.

Learn even more about wine with WSET training

If you want to go further, there are many courses, workshops, and training opportunities available in Switzerland. The WSET (Wine & Spirit Education Trust) course is internationally recognised.

The WSET has been the world's leading wine and spirits training organisation since 1969. Every year, more than 85,000 candidates gain internationally recognised qualifications. In Switzerland, several groups offer these courses:

  • The Académie du Vin is the official training and examination centre for Switzerland. Courses are held in various towns in German- and French-speaking Switzerland.

  • The Zürich Wine Academy offers wine courses in the centre of Zurich.

  • In addition to the classic WSET courses, the Academy of Spirits in Zurich offers spirits certificates.

  • The Ecole du Vin - Seeland is based in Biel/Bienne, but courses are also organised in other Swiss towns and cities.

  • Pur Jus offers courses in Zurich, Basel, Lausanne, and Geneva.

Training begins with the basic wine course. This is followed by WSET levels 2 and 3, and then, for professionals, the WSET level 4 diploma.
