A walk through the vineyards, five delicious stops and breathtaking views of Lake Geneva: the Chemin des Capites in Lavaux has been recognised as one of the world's best wine tourism experiences. Created by Autour du Vin, the experience received the 2027 Global Best Of Wine Tourism Award on 22 October 2026 in Hawke's Bay, New Zealand.
The international distinction was presented during the annual Great Wine Capitals Global Network conference. From 597 entries and 77 regional winners, an international jury selected eleven Global Winners, one from each wine region. The Chemin des Capites proudly represents Switzerland and the Lausanne wine region.
The Chemin des Capites brings together everything that makes a great day out: fresh air, spectacular scenery and delicious regional specialities.

Stretching approximately 5.5 kilometres, this easy, mostly downhill trail connects Chexbres railway station to the funicular in Corseaux. Along the way, visitors explore the famous terraced vineyards of Lavaux, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, while enjoying stunning views of Lake Geneva and the Alps.
What makes the trail special? Five traditional vineyard huts known as "capites", once used by winegrowers as shelters. Today, these charming little buildings have been transformed into tasting stops. At each one, guests discover a wine from one of five participating producers, paired with carefully selected local delicacies.

What sets the Chemin des Capites apart is its combination of nature, flavour and personal encounters. Instead of sitting in a traditional tasting room, visitors discover the wines right where they are produced.
Every stop tells a different story: about the people behind the wines, the character of the vineyards and the diversity of the region. Between tastings, there is plenty of time to admire the scenery, take photos and soak up the unique atmosphere of Lavaux.

It's an experience that shows just how accessible, varied and enjoyable Swiss wine tourism can be, with no expert wine knowledge required.
Through the Global Best Of Wine Tourism Awards, the Great Wine Capitals Global Network celebrates outstanding experiences that bring wine regions to life in authentic and innovative ways.
Autour du Vin's success highlights Switzerland's appeal as a wine tourism destination. Lavaux stands out not only for its wines and remarkable cultural landscape, but also for creative experiences that combine tradition with fresh ways of discovering wine.
And visitors can have their say too: from 1 to 15 December 2026, the eleven Global Winners will compete for the «Best Of Wine Tourism People's Choice Award». Voting will take place at greatwinecapitals.com.
