Switzerland's Best Wines of the Year Revealed

Bern, 23 October 2026 – An evening filled with exceptional wines, excitement and prestigious awards: more than 600 guests gathered at the Kursaal in Bern to celebrate the 20th edition of the Grand Prix du Vin Suisse. The spotlight was on Switzerland's finest wines and the passionate people behind them.

Domaine Claudy Clavien Named Swiss Winery of the Year 2026

The evening's biggest winner came from Valais: Domaine Claudy Clavien in Miège was crowned "Swiss Winery of the Year 2026". Run by Claudy Clavien and his daughter Shadia, the family-owned estate impressed the judges with two category wins and several other top rankings.

Its standout achievements included the white blend Eclats d'âme Les Coteaux de Sierre 2025 and the Syrah Encre de la Terre Les Coteaux de Sierre 2024, both of which took first place in their respective categories.

A Winery Makes History

Another prestigious award went to Adrian & Diego Mathier Nouveau Salquenen in Salgesch. The Valais winery once again secured the title of "Swiss Winery of the Decade" for the period 2017–2026.

Having already won the award in 2016, the estate has now demonstrated two decades of outstanding quality. Proof that excellence is no coincidence, but the result of consistent dedication.

The Wines That Impressed the Jury

Alongside the main distinctions, several exceptional wines received special awards:

  • Prix Vinissimo "Coup de cœur" White: Ermitage Nadia Mathier 2025, Adrian & Diego Mathier Nouveau Salquenen (VS).
  • Prix Vinissimo "Coup de cœur" Red: Cuvée Prestige "Fernand Cina" 2023, Fernand Cina SA (VS).
  • Prix Vin Bio: MajesT 2023, Clos du Château in Satigny (GE).

There were plenty of other exciting discoveries too: the winning Pinot Noir came from Weingut Schmid in Thurgau, the top Merlot from Tenuta Roberto e Andrea Ferrari in Ticino, and the first-place Chardonnay from Weinbaugenossenschaft Schinznach in Aargau.

Celebrating Swiss Wine Diversity Across 16 Categories

From refreshing Chasselas and elegant Pinot Noir to sparkling wines, the Grand Prix du Vin Suisse showcases the remarkable diversity of Switzerland's wine regions.

19 cantons took part in the 2026 competition, three more than the previous year. For the first time, Petite Arvine and Savagnin Blanc were judged in a dedicated category. With more than 200 wines entered, the new category made an impressive debut.

Since its launch, more than 50,000 wines have been tasted and evaluated at the Grand Prix du Vin Suisse, making it one of the most important awards for Swiss wine.
